Alessia Cara Predicts Future Grammy Win in New “Seventeen” Video
Aaron AAlessia Cara didn’t get a Grammy nomination this year, but she’s pretty convinced that she’ll actually win one in the future. How do we know? She predicts it in her new video for the song “Seventeen.”
The entire video takes place on a bus, and shows Alessia aging from a little girl riding with her dad, to a teen riding with her friend, to a young woman holding a Grammy award, to a young mother with a baby, to a middle-aged woman with a teenage son, to an older woman.
The visuals reflect the song’s lyrics, which are about how Alessia was always in such a hurry to grow up, but now that she’s older, she longs for those carefree younger days.
“So hear me scream/I was too young to understand what it means/I couldn’t wait til I could be seventeen,” sings Alessia. “I thought he lied when he said take my time to dream/Now I wish I could freeze the time at seventeen.”
“Thanks for being the first people to check out my video for seventeen. It’s a personal song and video for me (starring my family and friends, as usual) and I’m excited it’s finally out for u guys to see,” Alessia writes in a message accompanying the clip.
“Hope it’ll remind u to enjoy all the little moments in life, especially this time of year,” she adds. “Thank u for making mine that much more special. Happy holidays & enjoy the video.”
The video features Alessia’s aunt as the young mom with the baby, her mother Enza and brother Dario as the middle-aged woman and her son, and her dad as the father with the little girl.
