The eight-year-old daughter of Britney’s sister Jamie Lynn Spears is out of the hospital following an accident last weekend.  According to a police report obtained by People magazine, the girl was driving an ATV when she lost control, flipped over and ended up in the water.

“We’re headed home with our baby girl as she continues to recover,” Jamie Lynn tweeted. “Thank you again to everyone. We are truly blessed.”  She included a photo of a helicopter from the Children’s Hospital in New Orleans which transported Maddie home.

Maddie’s stepfather posted the same photo on Instagram, and wrote, “Thanks to the amazing first responders, and medical teams at University and Children’s Hospital in New Orleans, LA…above all else we are so thankful for each and every prayer, because we know that is what truly made the difference.”

Britney tweeted, “So grateful that Maddie was able to go home today…it’s truly a miracle. Our prayers were heard, and they were answered!”

“Thank you so much for all of your love and support this week,” she added. “My family appreciates it more than you will ever know.”

The hospital issued a statement to People via a spokesperson for the Spears family, saying that Maddie is “she is breathing well and interacting with loved ones. Doctors say she is on the way to a full recovery.”  The statement confirmed that Maddie accidentally drove an ATV into a pond and was trapped underwater.

“It appears she has not suffered any neurological consequences from the accident,” the hospital told People in a statement from the Spears rep.
