Fifth Harmony’s Camila Cabello Does Good with “Bad Things”
Drew LevinLast year, Fifth Harmony‘s Camila Cabello scored a top-20 hit outside her group, with “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” a duet with Shawn Mendes. Now, another duet has landed her in the top 10.
As Billboard reports, “Bad Things,” Camila’s duet with rapper Machine Gun Kelly, has jumped from #17 to #10 on the Billboard Hot 100, thanks to the release of the video, and a performance on NBC’s Tonight Show.
As Billboard notes, Camila’s group Fifth Harmony hit the top 10 for the first time this year with “Work from Home,” which means she pulled off an unusual feat: she scored her first top-10 hit the same year her group scored it’s first top-10. Usually, a solo hit — or in this case duet hit — comes years after a group’s first success.
And speaking of group members having success away from their groups, next week should see “Just Hold On,” the debut of One Direction‘s Louis Tomlinson, hit the chart. It’s a collaboration with Steve Aoki, and he performed it on the U.K.’s X Factor just days after his mother passed away.
Meanwhile, “Black Beatles” by Rae Sremmurd is #1 for a fifth week, while Alessia Cara‘s “Scars to Your Beautiful” has climbed to #13 — a new high — and Mariah Carey‘s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” jumps to #17. Can it beat last year’s peak of #11?
