ABC/Phil McCartenHarry Styles will be seen on the big screen later this year in the World War II drama Dunkirk, but if a British tabloid is to be believed, he could have had a lead role in what will likely be one of the biggest movies of 2018.

The Sun reports that Harry was considered for the lead role in the upcoming Star Wars stand-alone movie that will tell the story of a young Han Solo.   An “insider” tells the paper, “Harry was one of the early names in contention when the studio looked at Han Solo. Even though he had virtually no acting experience, they saw he had huge star potential and would give the solo project enormous publicity.”

While the insider dishes that Harry’s solo career made it “almost impossible to lock him down for the job,” they claim that “there has been talk at Disney about having him come in again for other projects they are considering.”

A possible role in a rumored stand-alone movie about Obi-Wan Kenobi is something that’s been mentioned, according to the source.

Actor Alden Ehrenreich ultimately won the role in the Han Solo film, which is due May 25, 2018.  Harry’s movie Dunkirk, directed by Christopher Nolan, arrives July 21.

Star Wars is owned by Disney, parent company of ABC News.
