Jordin Sparks Congratulates Fellow Season 6 “American Idol” Contestant on Winning “The Voice”

Sundance Head wins “The Voice: Tyler Golden/NBC

You wouldn’t have known it to watch this season of The Voice, but it wasn’t exactly newly minted winner Sundance Head‘s first reality show rodeo.

Longtime American Idol fans remember Sundance from his time as a contestant on the Fox show during season six.  He made it to the Top 16, but was eliminated after a performance of Pearl Jam‘s “Jeremy.”

Jordin Sparks, who won Idol season six, remembers Sundance, and tweeted her congratulations after he was crowned the winner of The Voice on Tuesday night.  “OMG @SundanceHead!! Congratulations!!” she wrote. “So proud of you!”  She added several “raise-the-roof” emojis, and the hashtag “#AI6forever.”

While he’s the first Idol contestant to win The Voice, Sundance is far from the first to appear on The Voice.  Some of the others include:

Colton Swon, who was on Idol season 9, and then auditioned for The Voice with his brother Zach as The Swon Brothers on The Voice season 4.

Frenchie Davis, who was disqualified from American Idol season 2 but went on to place fifth on The Voice season 1

Jon Peter Lewis, who came in at #8 on American Idol season 3, and then competed on The Voice season 4 as part of the duo Midas Whale.

Jamar Rogers, who was on Idol season 8 with his best friend Danny Gokey, and who then competed on The Voice season 2

As time progressed, former Voice contestants began popping up on American Idol.  Season 15 included three former Voice contestants: Mackenzie Bourg, Shelbie Z and Sonika Vaid.
