Kelly Clarkson’s Crazy About Christmas Music
ABC/Mark LevineKelly Clarkson is currently working on a brand new album, but she’s been taking time out to make some festive appearances. Thanksgiving night, she appeared on ABC’s Wonderful World of Disney: Magical Holiday Celebration, and this past Monday, she was on ABC’s CMA Country Christmas. Yesterday, she sang at the National Christmas Tree Lighting in Washington, D.C. But why do all those things, when she doesn’t have an album to promote? Because, Kelly says, she just loves the opportunity to sing Christmas music.
“Honestly, my Christmas record’s my favorite ‘cause it’s more soulful,” she tells ABC Radio. “I feel like Christmas music either sounds super soulful or it sounds super big band sound, which are both my favorites.”
In addition to that, Kelly says, “I’ve just always loved the songs. You can get away with cheesy and it’s OK, ‘cause it’s Christmas! And so I love that.”
You can watch Kelly’s performance at the National Christmas Tree Lighting Monday night on the Hallmark Channel, and she has even more holiday appearances coming up: this Saturday, she’ll be the Grand Marshal of the Nashville Christmas Parade, and on December 16, she’ll host Miracle on Broadway, a Christmas-themed charity concert, also in Nashville. On Christmas Day, she’ll appear on ABC’s Disney Parks’ Magical Christmas Celebration.
