Mariah Carey Explains Why Her Right Side Is Her Good Side

James Dimmock/E! EntertainmentIf you’ve ever wondered why Mariah Carey prefers to be photographed only from her right side, you’re about to find out.  

A first-look visual at this Sunday’s Mariah’s World from E! shows the singer explaining to her makeup artist, Kristofer, that the request is all due to one woman’s fateful advice on the set of a photo shoot. 

“When I was 19, and I was at the record company doing my first photo shoot, the lady goes, she’s looking at the pictures after we did them and she goes, ‘This is your good side. Only let people photograph you from your good side ever,” Mimi recalled.  

“So I was like, ‘Oh,’ and then I would look at the pictures and I kinda didn’t like them from this side either,” she added. 

After her confession, Mariah comes to the conclusion that she may have had a “crappy photographer,” as Kristofer notes, and makeup artist at the time, but that she continued to obey the woman’s direction “because that was her job.” 

Mariah’s World airs Sunday at 9 p.m. on E!.
