“New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” Performers Alessia, Hailee & G-Eazy Remember Watching the Show as Kids
Dick Clark Productions Digital/Meredith TruaxOne of the thrills for artists appearing on ABC’s Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest is getting to perform on a show they watched every year as kids. This year’s crop of artists is no exception.
Alessia Cara “definitely watched” New Year’s Rockin’ Eve as a kid in Canada. “That was the thing that my family would put on while we were partying,” she tells ABC Radio. It’s her second time on the show, but it’s just one of the many highlights of Alessia’s 2016.
“I went on tour, which was amazing — with Coldplay and [alone],” she says. “I won a Juno award, which is insane…I’ve done so many things that I’m really thankful for this year.”
Hailee Steinfeld is another 2016 New Year’s Rockin’ Eve singer who watched as a kid. She says last year’s show even helped her set her goals for 2016. “Last year…I watched New Year’s Rockin’ Eve while making a vision board…I’d never done that before,” she reveals. “So I’m planning on doing that again this year!”
Rapper G-Eazy says there were “many, many New Year’s Eves spent crowded on the floor around my TV in the living room” watching the show. “It was an annual thing,” he tells ABC Radio. “When I was real little, [I’d] try to stay up until [midnight].”
Thanks to collaborations with Britney Spears and Bebe Rexha, it’s been a great year for G-Eazy, so what’s up for 2017?
“Just finishing up this new album,” he tells ABC Radio. “2016 was good to me….So now with that platform, that window that’s open in front of me, I just wanna fly through it and take things to the next level.”
Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest will air Saturday night at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
