Pitbull Got Paid $1 Million to Promote His Home State of Florida

Photo by Ethan Miller/Getty Images via ABCThey don’t call him Mr. 305 for nothing — Pitbull’s Florida pride is getting him paid. It’s been revealed that the singer received $1 million from Visit Florida to promote his home state as a tourist destination over the last year.

The deal was announced back in September 2015, but the full details of the contract weren’t posted until today after Florida’s House of Representatives filed a lawsuit to release the document. As detailed in the document, part of the deal required Pitbull to tweet using the #LoveFL hashtag, participate in a marketing promotion connected to his New Year’s Eve special in Miami and promote Florida through one of his music videos.

Pitbull tweeted the contract along with a message saying he’d be promoting Florida even if he wasn’t getting paid to do so.

“It’s been an honor to represent Miami and the Sunshine State,” he writes. “I’ve taken Miami and Florida worldwide – WAY before any contract, and will do so way after. I love my home state. When asked to take on a New Year’s show, I INSISTED it be live from Florida. #LoveFL since birth . . . and til the day I die. Dale!”

Pitbull will be ringing in 2017 with his third annual New Year’s Revolution live from Miami. The special airs on Fox.
