Harry Styles’ bandmates give his new single thumbs up; he reveals the intimidating gift Adele gave him

ABC/Phil McCartenHarry Styles’ new solo single “Sign of the Times” is getting a lot of positive response from fans, but his One Direction bandmates are loving it, too.

Niall Horan responded to Harry’s tweet with the single’s title and artwork by writing, “Love it, H.”  New father Liam Payne took time out of changing diapers to tweet, “Proud of you H. Glad you’re getting to do your own thing.”

So far no word from Louis Tomlinson or former 1D member Zayn Malik, but Meghan Trainor and Zedd were a couple of the Harry’s famous friends who weighed in with praise for the British rock-inspired ballad.

Meanwhile, during an interview that aired on BBC Radio 1 this morning, Harry was asked if he’d spoken to Adele or gotten any advice from her about his upcoming solo album.  He says he’s only spoken to her “a little,” but is a huge admirer of hers, saying she “leads by example.”

He then revealed that when he turned 21, Adele gave him a special gift: a copy of her gazillion selling disc 21.

“She said, ‘I did some pretty cool stuff when I was 21, good luck,'” he laughed. “I was like, “Ugh…jeez!!!”

Finally, Billboard reports that in addition to “Sign of the Times,” Harry will perform another new song when he performs on Saturday Night Live April 14.
