Harry Styles news: His Prince connection and his dating status

Columbia RecordsWhen Harry Styles announced that the title of his debut solo single would be “Sign of the Times,” he did it on the same day as the 30th anniversary of the release of Prince’s legendary album, Sign O’ The Times. While that album’s title track and Harry’s song aren’t the same, some have questioned Harry’s use of the title. But one of Prince’s duet partners says the late icon wouldn’t mind at all.

Scottish pop star Sheena Easton sang with Prince on the #2 pop hit “U Got the Look,” the biggest hit from the Sign O’ the Times album. She tells the BBC, “I’m sure he doesn’t mind. Prince was such a giving, loving person, I’m sure he’s up there [in heaven] saying ‘go for it’.”

She also notes, “As long as the song is different, that’s the important thing.”

In other Harry news, in an interview to be broadcast Friday morning on BBC Radio 1, he reveals he’s currently single.

“I haven’t dated in a long time really because I went away to do the movie [Dunkirk], then did the album,” he explains. He admits he used to Google potential dates online before he actually met them, but has since sworn off the practice.

“I said, ‘I’m not going to do that anymore,'” he tells Radio 1’s Nick Grimshaw. “It’s impossible to go in without a perception of someone and you’ve never met them and I started feeling like that was wrong and weird.”
